French large enamelled pitcher jug with floral décor

This is a rare and remarkably attractive water pitcher jug.

Sourced from France, it features a light cream enamelled surface with a stunning floral décor. This décor is original and not a later addition.

The construction is very solid and heavy gauge metal. The strong tubular handle is securely fixed to the body. With a solid base including a riveted metal band around the bottom of the body.

There is beautiful age related wear and chipping to the enamel, adding to the historic charm of this desirable piece of antique craftsmanship. There is evidence of some old soldered repairs to the underside of the base, further adding to the charm. We estimate the age to circa 1920's.

On the underside of the base, has been pencil written M. Seguis Paye. Although we cannot know for certain, it is possible that M. Seguis bought the jug for later collection. The seller marking it up for reference. These are the kind of individual additions to antiques that make them so wonderful.
